Nursery School Graduation

Yesterday was Julia’s last day of school for the year and today was her nursery school graduation (next year she’ll be in one of the preschool classrooms).  It was quite the event.  The kids were adorable and had fun singing songs for the parents, getting their diplomas, and most importantly eating ice cream!!

Julia loved her teachers this year.  There were many times when we played school at home and mommy and/or daddy had to be Mrs. Lallo and Mrs. Drolet!

And today’s video is Julia singing “We Are the Dinosaurs” with the rest of her class.

Holiday Weekend

We had quite the weekend around here.  I think we packed in just about every traditional Memorial Day activity.  We started the weekend with pizza on Friday night.  Then Saturday we went to the opening day of the swim club we joined.  The weather was a bit overcast but hot; not quite hot enough though to take the chill out of the pool water which was freezing!! Julia and I still swam though!  Then Sunday we went to the Gaspee Days Arts & Crafts festival where Julia had her face painted again!

Then it was on to a cookout at Grandma Laurie’s house.  We had a great dinner complete with s’mores for dessert – perfect!

Finally we capped the weekend off on Monday with a parade and a baseball game! In between the two we picked the first peas from our plants.  What a great Memorial Day!

4 Months

At 4 months Benjamin is:

12 lbs 14oz… 25 inches… rolling over… squirming all around… squeaking, squawking, and generally chatting up a storm… learning to sit up… grabbing whatever he can get his hands on… trying to eat whatever he can get his hands on… smiling and laughing… winning everyone’s hearts!

To the Zoo

So over the years Alyssa and I have been to the Roger Williams Park Zoo many times and now that we live in RI we decided it was time to get a family pass.  So the other day I decided it was time to go see the animals.  Alyssa was at a wedding shower so Julia, Benjamin, and I loaded into the car.  It was a fun outting with both the kids we got to see the giraffes:

My next goal is to figure out how to get Benjamin into a few of these pictures.  Although I know he had a great time as well.

Julia’s Gallery–The Airplane

IMG_0871IMG_0872

Title: Airplane

Materials: red plastic clothespins

Comments: Julia has been having a hard time going to sleep at night.  She just seems to need some quiet time on her own to wind down before she is able to put her head on the pillow and rest.  Andrew and I are ok with that but the rules are that she needs to be in her room playing quietly or reading if she is not going to be sleeping.  We started this a few weeks ago and while we would really love for her to be asleep earlier it doesn’t seem like that’s going to happen so this is a good compromise.  Anyway, the other night she asked Andrew what she should play with and he suggested that she create things out of these clothespins. He showed her how to clip a couple together and left her to her own devices.  A little while later he was summoned upstairs so she could off her masterpiece – an airplane!

New toy

Benjamin has been getting more active and less satisfied lying on his playmat or being held by Mom. It seemed to be time for a new toy for him to explore. So today he tried out the "jumperoo" and appeared to really enjoy it. He definitely enjoys standing up and moving around! I think he's going to have a lot of fun with it!

Julia’s Gallery -- The Bunny

The Bunny

Title: Bunny

Materials: Watercolor pen on drawing paper

Comments: J and I had a little drawing lesson the other day.  I demonstrated to her how to draw a bunny and then she attempted to replicate what I had drawn.  I think I like hers better than mine!!  The interesting part of the process was that she drew this upside down.  Andrew said that’s a mark of creative mind and I would have to agree.
